Windows Vista unable to start or recover

Good day all, I am currently struggling with my Toshiba Satellite L300, running Windows Vista 32-bit sp2.

On powering the laptop up, it instantly brings up Windows error recovery screen. All options, including safe mode, fail to work and lead to the windows boot manager screen.

The information shown on here is

File: \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\pciide.sys
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

I have tried booting from the recovery disk but this is unable to repair.

Is there any advice someone who had encountered this problem before could offer? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Rob
