Make Your Dryer Safer and More Efficient by Deep-Cleaning It [Home Maintenance]

Make Your Dryer Safer and More Efficient by Deep-Cleaning It When we think about dryer maintenance, most of us just clean out the lint filter and call it a day. However, if you really want your dryer to run efficiently?and more importantly, safely?doing a quick deep-cleaning is a must.

Believe it or not, your lint filter doesn't catch all the lint that comes its way, so over time the inside of your dryer gets caked with lint, especially around the drum. This can pose as a fire hazard and increases drying times for your laundry. Opening up your dryer to clean the inside isn't hard to do at all. Most dryers allow you to remove the top or front panel, with just a few screws holding you back. Once you're in, just take your vacuum sweeper with a hose extension and sweep out the lint build-up around the drum and inside the lint filter tray.

The whole project should only take you about 30 minutes depending on how difficult your dryer is to take apart and how dirty it is inside. And while you're at it, it doesn't hurt to attack your dryer ducts with a good cleaning as well.
